- English Bio
My research areas are focused on Amerindian ethnology, the interaction between different forms of knowledge, and the epistemology and theory of anthropology. I have carried out ethnographic fieldwork on the configuration of notions of alterity and sameness, as part of my doctoral research, and on how the distinction between person and society is intersected by the distinction between epistemology and ontology, proposing an ethnographic notion of knowledge inextricable from culturally specific notions of world and reality (as part of a postdoctoral research). Currently I am concluding two research projects. The first one attempts to develop an ethnographic understanding of interethnic relations in contemporary Chile, in contexts of indigenous entrepreneurship. The second one attempts to explore understandings of fire in contexts associated to wildfires occurrence. My focus of interest has recently turned towards the exploration of the social aspects of football and the process of athletes’ formation as technologies of subjectivation. I am a researcher at the Center for Intercultural and Indigenous Research (CIIR) and at the Research Center for Integrated Disaster Risk Management (CIGIDEN).
