Mis intereses en investigación se centran en la significancia socio-cultural atribuida al paisaje y los procesos políticos atrás el control de los recursos naturales y el acceso a la propiedad. He desarrollado investigaciones tanto en Chile como en Italia, donde he estudiado las consecuencias culturales del proceso de desinstitucionalización de la salud mental con el cierre de los hospitales psiquiátricos. Mi trabajo de campo más extenso se ha enfocado en las demandas Mapuche de restitución territorial, analizando tanto el significado cultural y experiencial de la tierra como los procesos políticos y la acción colectiva asociados a las demandas mismas. En mi presente proyecto de investigación "El bosque chileno entre modernidad y tradición: una aproximación etnográfica al conocimiento y valores medioambientales en la IX región”, estudio las mediaciones culturales, políticas y económicas a la base de cambios recientes en el uso y valoración de los recursos naturales.  

My research interests concern landscape and the socio-cultural signification of the environment and the politics behind control over natural resources and property relations. I have carried out research in Italy and Chile, where I have studied the cultural consequences of the deinstitutionalization process for mental health and the closing down of psychiatric hospitals. My main ethnographic research focuses on Mapuche land claims. As part of my research, I have looked at both the heterogeneous and complex meanings associated with ancestral land, autochthony and the environment in Mapuche society and the relation with the Chilean state. I am currently conducting a large ethnographic project in South-Central Chile named The Chilean wood between modernity and tradition: an ethnographic approach to the politics and experiences of knowing and valorising forestry in the 9th region". In this project, I look at the political, cultural and economic mediations behind recent changes in the knowledge and valorisation of forestry in the region of Araucania.
